Police Investigating Armed Robbery on Calumet Street

Post Date:09/13/2017 3:49 PM

Investigators from the Appleton Police Department are investigating an armed robbery occurring at a financial institution on E. Calumet Street.

On September 13, 2017, at approximately 12:18 PM, officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Capitol Credit Union (2009 E. Calumet Street). Victims reported two men, with masks covering their faces, robbing the financial institution at gunpoint.  The subjects fled to a nearby vehicle.

The suspect vehicle was described as a gray, Pontiac G6. Approximately 10 minutes after the initial call, an Appleton officer saw a vehicle matching the description on northbound Highway 441.  Preparations were made to conduct a high-risk stop on the vehicle.  While preparing for a stop, the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed. Due to the reckless driving exhibited by the vehicle operator, a decision was made to terminate pursuit of the vehicle.  It was last seen on Holland Road near County JJ.

Based on victim statements and surveillance video, investigators are looking for two (2) suspects.  Both suspects were described as black males.  One suspect was wearing a blue sweatshirt and red sweatpants. He was further described as being approximately 6’2” with a weight of approximately 200 pounds.  The second suspect was described as being approximately 5’8” tall with a medium build.  He was wearing dark clothing during the robbery. Both were armed with black handguns.

We are looking for a gray 2008 Pontiac G6.  It should display Wisconsin registration plate, 646-XVV.  Do not attempt to stop or detain the vehicle as occupant(s) may be armed.  Call 911 to report the vehicle and location.

Due to the nature of the call and the proximity to several schools, a brief lockdown of the schools was requested.  It was lifted after the vehicle was seen in the aforementioned area.
