Valley Transit Detour Information

Reduced Fare Certification

Riders who are age 65 and over, or who have been certified as having a disability which causes them significant difficulty in using the bus, are eligible for a discounted fare when using Valley Transit buses.

Eligibility
Riders with disabilites can be certified for this program if they have difficulty with one or more of the following:
  • Getting on a standard transit bus
  • Standing in a moving bus
  • Hearing or understanding oral
  • instructions by the driver*
  • Seeing or understanding informational signs (language illiteracy or the inability to speak, read or understand English due to non-English speaking country of origin is not a qualifying disability.)
Identification
When paying the reduced cash fare or using a reduced fare ticket or pass, riders should be ready to present one of the following forms of identification to their bus driver, upon request:
  • Valley Transit Reduced Fare Card
  • Medicare Card
  • ADA Eligibility Card
No other forms of identification are accepted. Riders do not need to show identification to purchase pre-paid tickets or passes.
