Assessor's Office

The Assessor discovers, lists, and establishes uniform values on all taxable property. Our goal is to ensure that the property tax burden is distributed fairly among all property owners. To accomplish this, we revalue all property at least once in every four year period. Our office is also responsible for maintaining property ownership and lot descriptions on all property in the city. In addition, we serve as an informational resource to the community.

Wisconsin law requires that all assessments be based on fair market value. The Assessor does not create value but interprets what is happening in the marketplace. WI Statutes 70.32 explains how real estate is valued for assessment purposes. A change in an assessed value does not automatically mean a change in property taxes. Each taxing authority publishes a tax rate annually in December which also affects each tax bill. Helpful publications are available in our office or by clicking on Helpful Guides listed below.

The 2016 assessments have been completed and are available online at 2017 property assessments will be completed in May, at which time you will receive a notice if your assessed value is changed. The Assessor's Open Book Session, a time set aside to discuss your property assessment, is planned for early May and the Board of Review hearings will be held on or about June 1st after which, the 2017 values become final. Please call us at 920-832-5850 for these exact dates or if you wish to speak to an Assessor. We encourage you to speak to the Assessor before signing up for the Board of Review.

If you have any questions regarding your assessed value, we encourage you to call the Assessor's Office.
