l__new_iperl_meterThe City of Appleton Public Works Department is in the process of replacing all residential and commercial water meters throughout the entire City to a wireless technology network that reads and transmits water consumption.

There is no charge for the installation of the new water meter.

The new meter is an iPerl Advanced Magnetic Meter with the following benefits:
  • Customers will be able to track their own consumption
  • Allows the ability to spot costly water leaks and alert customers
  • Eliminates the need for a water meter reader to visit your premise
  • Provides an energy efficient, accurate and cost effective way to read the meter consumption
  • Detects backflow
  • The meter is lead free
  • Promotes water conservation
The new system uses radio frequencies to transmit meter readings. These readings are collected by antennas located on fixed infrastructure and communicated to the Utility.

During the meter installation process, the technician will also perform a backflow and cross connection inspection of all residential and low hazard commercial buildings.
