l__hr2The Information Technology Department serves to provide all City departments with reliable, timely and accurate computer applications, hardware and services by using, implementing and/or maximizing current technology that is both cost effective and responsive to departmental needs. In addition, the Information Technology Department provides phone, voicemail, and copier support services to all City departments.

Network Services
In the City of Appleton Information Technology Department we have a Network Team consisting of one Network Administrator, one PC Applications Developer, two PC/LAN Specialists, and two Help Desk Specialists. We support all PC, Server and network hardware & software throughout the City including City Hall, Appleton Police Department, Appleton Fire Department, Park and Recreations Department, Municipal Services, Wastewater Utilities, and Valley Transit. This includes 500 PC’s and laptops, networked and stand alone printers, over 70 servers in a 100% virtual environment and a network spanning all City buildings and a DR site with 630 FTE's.

iSeries
The City of Appleton has an IBM iSeries midrange computer to process a number business functions for it’s citizens, internal departments and external interfaces. The iSeries systems and programming staff is responsible for the development of automated information systems including; management of application development, feasibility studies, project leadership, standards development, systems and database design; programming, system implementation, system administration, user training and documentation development  Current project work consists of replacing the iSeries with a new Tyler Munis ERP system within our virtual environment..
