Citizens Academy
The City of Appleton Citizens Academy is a 10-week program aimed at educating citizens about the workings of their local government. The academy is open to anyone who lives or works in the City of Appleton.

Throughout the sessions, participants gain insights into the responsibilities of City departments and the services they provide to the community. Presentations and "behind-the-scenes" facility tours enhance participants' understanding of the crucial role local government plays in maintaining the quality of life enjoyed by Appleton residents.
The sessions and tours take place at various locations across the City, including the Police Station, Public Works Facility, Fire and Police Stations, City Hall, and more.
Application and Curriculum
To qualify for the academy, please ensure that you complete the application and waiver forms. You can also download the brochure for additional information.
- Email the completed application and waiver forms to mayor@appleton.org
- Use the subject line: "CoA Citizens Academy Applicant (Your Name)"
- Ensure that all required fields are filled out accurately.
- Bring your completed form to the following address: 100 N Appleton Street, Appleton, WI 54911 by no later than February 9th.

This free 10-week program is open to the City of Appleton residents on a first-come, first-served basis. The academy will be filled based on the order in which completed applications are received. Once the current academy is full, those who did not get a seat will be given priority for the next session.
