Public Works
The Department of Public Works is charged with the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of much of the City infrastructure. The Department has responsibility for sewers, trees, streets, sidewalks, bridges, water mains, and for coordinating with other public utilities operating within our road right-of-way. Through the Central Equipment Agency, the Department also provides vehicle purchasing and maintenance for much of the City Fleet. The Inspections Division joined the Department of Public Works in 1999 and is charged with enforcing various state and municipal building and erosion control codes.
