Forensic Evidence Specialist
In 2012, the Appleton Police Department began transitioning our Identification Unit to include civilian staff. Our now fully civilian team of Forensic Evidence Specialists is crucial to every case involving any type of property/evidence.
The Identification Unit is comprised of three full-time Forensic Evidence Specialists. They are responsible for maintaining chain-of-custody for all property and evidence; sending items to the state crime lab; and providing discovery to the three District Attorney's offices in Appleton's jurisdiction. In addition to their administrative work, they process all major crime scenes and handle post-processing of evidence. Essential to their role is security and confidentiality.
