Fire Station Tours and Site Visits
For tours and site visits please provide the following information when scheduling:
- Preferred date/time.
- Which fire station you prefer to visit OR location you would like us to visit.
- Age/age range/grade.
- Number of participants (both adults and children).
- Point of contact information for the event.
Notes
- We do not have the capability to visit groups younger than 4 years old.
- We recommend one chaperone for every 5-8 children for younger children.
- Tours are typically scheduled Monday-Friday between 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
- We only visit sites located within the City of Appleton.
- Tours are scheduled around other commitments.
- Offering more available dates makes scheduling easier.
- Please provide us with as much notice as possible.
- Plan for station tours to last about 45 minutes to an hour depending on group size.
- Station 1 can accommodate 2 classes at once (no more than 40 students), all other stations can accommodate up to 25 students at once.

Curriculum by Grade:
Preschool/4k (~20 minutes) No groups younger than 4 years old.
- Friendly Firefighter - Please note that these lessons have been shortened for preschool level to provide information effectively to this age group. Fire crews may show students/children fire trucks based on availability, but there must be an educational component to the visit.
K-5th Grade (~30 minutes)
- Friendly Firefighter
- Community Helpers
- Calling 9-1-1
- Smoke Alarms and Escape Plans
- Summer Safety
6th - 12th Grade (Time Varies)
- Stop the Bleed
- Hands Only CPR (No Certification).
We may also discuss the fire safety messages you feel would be most helpful for your class, including what curriculum you've covered and what discussions you've already had with the children. Otherwise we will follow lessons based on the Fire Prevention Week theme that is put out by the NFPA.
