Ride Along Program
The Appleton Fire Department offers ride along opportunities for men and women, at least 14 years of age, interested in learning more about the firefighting career.

A ride along experience can help provide an answer to the question, "would I want to make this job a career?". This opportunity provides a view into all aspects involved in a career and what may be required on a daily basis. You can learn directly from the experts in the field.

What Can I Expect to Learn?

A ride along experience will help you:

  • Set goals that fit your interests and capabilities.
  • Observe and ask questions in the work environment.
  • Relate learning to on-the-job realities.
  • See that each job has advantages and disadvantages.
  • Observe the importance of working as a team and sharing responsibility.
